Job Description: Principal Engineer – Digital Banking / Platform Engineering
Job Location: Remote/Hybrid 
Job Type: 12-Month Contract, potential for extension

We’re looking for a Principal Engineer to help shape the future of our digital banking platform.

This is a highly visible role where you’ll define technical direction, influence engineering strategy, and partner with senior leaders to deliver scalable, customer-centric solutions. You’ll work across teams to solve complex problems, elevate engineering practices, and ensure we’re building for both today and what’s next.

What You’ll Do

Set Technical Direction

• Define and evolve architecture across critical platforms and services
• Establish patterns and standards that enable teams to move faster with confidence
• Partner with product and business leaders to align technology strategy with customer outcomes

Solve the Hard Problems

• Step into complex, ambiguous challenges and drive them to resolution
• Guide teams through key architectural decisions and trade-offs
• Contribute hands-on where it matters most

Drive Alignment Across Teams

• Connect work across multiple product teams to ensure cohesive solutions
• Influence without authority—bringing teams and leaders along through clarity and credibility
• Act as a bridge between engineering, product, and leadership

Elevate Engineering

• Mentor engineers and help raise the bar on design, quality, and delivery
• Introduce modern practices that improve scalability, reliability, and developer experience
• Champion a culture of continuous learning and improvement

What We’re Looking For

• Deep experience designing and delivering complex, distributed systems
• A track record of influencing technical direction across teams or organizations
• Strong systems thinking—you see the big picture and understand how pieces connect
• Ability to operate at multiple levels: strategic, architectural, and hands-on
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving clarity

The projected hourly range for this position is $95-$150
