Overview
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to serve as the hands-on technical lead for a cloud environment. In this role, you will partner closely with engineering and product teams to improve reliability, security, and scalability across a suite of digital products.
This is a high-impact individual contributor role for someone who enjoys owning architecture and standards while staying deeply involved in design, implementation, and operations.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the design, build, and operation of cloud infrastructure with a focus on secure, scalable, and cost-effective solutions
• Assess the current environment and drive a roadmap to simplify and modernize platforms, services, and tooling, including consolidation into a primary cloud provider such as AWS
• Implement and maintain infrastructure-as-code, automation, and CI/CD pipelines to improve speed, consistency, and reliability
• Strengthen the cloud security posture, including network and application security, monitoring, and protections against abuse and denial-of-service scenarios
• Collaborate closely with software, mobile, and data engineering teams, as well as technical leadership, to ensure the platform supports current and future product needs
• Provide technical leadership, best practices, and mentoring for other engineers without direct people-management responsibilities
Requirements:
• 5+ years of hands-on cloud engineering experience, with strong depth in at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and a willingness to specialize where needed
• Proven experience designing, deploying, and operating production workloads in the cloud, ideally supporting customer-facing or high-traffic environments
• Strong skills in infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or similar), automation, and scripting (such as Python or Bash)
• Experience with CI/CD concepts and tooling, including build, test, deploy automation, blue/green or canary deployments, and rollback strategies
• Solid understanding of cloud networking, identity and access management, encryption, monitoring, and alerting
• Ability to evaluate a current architecture, identify risks and gaps, and propose pragmatic improvements
• Strong communication skills and the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience consolidating services from multiple platforms into a single cloud provider
• Background supporting digital products, subscription services, or content-driven platforms
• Familiarity with containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/EKS, or similar)
• Experience partnering with mobile, data, and AI/ML teams to support their infrastructure needs
The projected hourly range for this position is $70 to $100.
