Job Title: Project Manager – Receiving Application Replacement
Job Type: Contract
Job Location: Hybrid

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a complex receiving application replacement within a highly customized legacy environment. This role requires a delivery leader who can bring structure, clarity, and momentum to a transformation effort involving legacy systems, modern applications, business process change, data dependencies, and cross-functional stakeholders.

The project involves replacing a decades-old receiving capability that is tightly connected to a homegrown Accounts Payable system, foundational data, integrations, and a newer Point of Sale platform. The ideal candidate does not need deep receiving or Point of Sale expertise, but must be comfortable operating in ambiguity, asking the right questions, and driving accountability across business and technology teams.

Responsibilities:
• Lead day-to-day project execution for the receiving application replacement
• Create structure, discipline, and transparency across a complex legacy modernization effort
• Coordinate activities across business teams, Business Analysts, technical leads, integration teams, data owners, Accounts Payable, and Point of Sale stakeholders
• Partner closely with Business Analysts and technical resources to clarify scope, dependencies, risks, decisions, and delivery milestones
• Help business partners understand UAT expectations, readiness activities, future-state process ownership, and required participation
• Identify and escalate risks, blockers, open decisions, and organizational readiness gaps
• Facilitate cross-functional conversations to connect business process, data, integration, and system impacts
• Support stakeholders in understanding and preparing for the future-state operating model
• Drive project plans, status reporting, issue resolution, decision tracking, and leadership communication
• Maintain momentum in a complex environment with legacy constraints, changing leadership, and evolving stakeholder understanding

Requirements:
• Strong project management experience in enterprise application delivery or system replacement initiatives
• Experience leading projects in complex, legacy-heavy business and technology environments
• Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous situations where processes, ownership, and requirements may not be clearly defined
• Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills
• Experience coordinating across business, technology, data, integrations, and operational teams
• Ability to translate between business needs and technical delivery considerations
• Proven ability to surface risks early, drive decisions, and hold teams accountable
• Strong organizational skills, delivery discipline, and attention to follow-through
• Comfort challenging assumptions while maintaining strong working relationships

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with enterprise system modernization or legacy application replacement
• Experience with Accounts Payable, receiving, supply chain, retail, or Point of Sale environments
• Familiarity with UAT planning, business readiness, process change, and operational transition
• Experience working in organizations with customized systems, tribal knowledge, and embedded legacy workflows

Overview of Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a structured, curious, and pragmatic delivery leader who can bring order to complexity. They are comfortable stepping into unclear situations, connecting dots across teams, and helping business and technology partners move toward a shared future state.

This person should be able to drive rigor without needing to be the subject matter expert. They should be confident facilitating difficult conversations, clarifying ownership, managing dependencies, and helping teams make progress despite complexity and resistance.

Key Success Factors
Success in this role will require the ability to:
• Bring clarity to an ambiguous and legacy-heavy environment
• Establish project structure and delivery discipline
• Build alignment across business, technology, data, and integration teams
• Prepare business partners for UAT and future-state operations
• Identify risks and decisions before they become delivery issues
• Keep the project moving while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships

The projected hourly range for this position is $70 to $85.
